ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEMS

COMFORT, PERFORMANCE AND LIFE SAFETY DESIGN        NEW YORK, NY

An intense exploration of what makes a building safe and functional, the environmental control systems project took a prescribed hypothetical shell of a building at the bustling intersection of Houston and Broadway in Manhattan and designed a high-performance building around it.  Designed systems include: passive shading and ventilation systems, speculative office layout, mechanical air distribution layout and calculations, electrical loads and receptacle layouts, life safety systems (egress measurements, strobes, sprinklers), LEED certification potential, material usage, lighting design, etc.   For the complete 170-page report, click here.  Team members: Lauren Demattia, Juhee Woo, Michaela Cooney
